Alice Nevalinga, also known as Nyla, was an Inuk woman from the Canadian Arctic who gained prominence through her role in the 1922 silent film Nanook of the North. In the film, she portrayed Nanook's wife, referred to as "the smiling one." Beyond her film career, Nevalinga was the mother of Taamusi Qumaq (1914–1993), a notable Quebec Inuit leader and author.
