.J. Johnston, born James William Johnston on October 24, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, was an American theater and film actor, boxing historian, and writer. He passed away on November 4, 2022, at the age of 89. Early Life and Career: Before pursuing acting, Johnston was an amateur boxer and authored several books on boxing history, including "Babyface and Pop" (2011) and "Chicago Boxing" (2005). He served eighteen months in prison for drug-related offenses before turning to acting. Stage Work: Johnston performed in the original 1975 production of David Mamet's "American Buffalo" in Chicago and later in the 1983 Broadway production opposite Al Pacino. Film and Television: Johnston appeared in numerous films, including "Fatal Attraction" (1987) as O'Rourke, "JFK" (1991) as a mobster, and "Spartan" (2004) as a nightclub manager. He also had roles in television series such as "Married... with Children" and "The King of Queens." Personal Life: Johnston was married to Patricia Ann Johnston from 1957 until her passing in 1983.
