Raphaël Hébert is a distinguished director, writer, and second unit director or assistant director, whose career in filmmaking began during his childhood in the rural part of Montreal's South Shore. Growing up as a "movie-set brat," he was exposed to various facets of film production, learning from both successful and less successful filmmakers. Hébert's journey in the industry saw him work across numerous departments on sets ranging from indie films to major Hollywood productions. His passion for filmmaking was evident early on, as he started making films with friends, a hobby that evolved into his professional calling. Hébert's first significant project was the self-financed feature film "Lived Backwards" (2009), where he honed his skills as a writer, director, and producer. This project was a challenging endeavor that took five years to complete, teaching him invaluable lessons in perseverance and the filmmaking process. His cinematic style and writing voice became more defined through this experience. Hébert's notable works include the award-winning short film "Past and Future Kings" (2017), which won the Audience Award's Gold Prize for Best Canadian/Quebec Short Film at the Fantasia International Film Festival, and "Brightstar" (2022). Currently based in Montreal, Hébert continues to develop multiple projects, including feature films and television series, collaborating with his talented partners.
